Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The plot to this project is based around the genre of crime/detective film where the main detective  is trying to solve a case. The two types of crime drama cover the resolution to a crime such as following the police or detectives the other follows the murderer and how they are away from justice.

Most detective films have a soundtrack that expresses tension and mystery, in this project there is a track called 'Chinese Dog'. This track has a bass that is deep which presents a conundrum to the next scene which is dipped to black as a cliff-hanger. In contrast some unsettling music was introduced to create an uneasy feel to the scene in the woods with the murderer.

Locations used in this film represented the overall genre with an interrogation room, a corridor and scenes in the woods. The atmosphere of the piece was set around tension and suspense of a typical crime drama.

The range of shots used, such as dolly shots, in the project were effective in documenting the movement of the main character (Jake Lestrade), the pan shots were also effective in establishing a setting of a scene, as fond in research is popular for the genre we had focused on.

The main character here on the right, dressed in old and dark clothing, to show he has had a struggle  in times gone by as the hat and jacket show in this image. In some crime dramas this is to show a revival of a detective who has done wrong in the past.
